Poutine, disco fries, chips and gravy...whatever you call it, French fries slathered in gravy and dotted with bits of melty cheese are a favorite comfort food no matter where you're from!  And now you can make them at home with this Baked Poutine Fries recipe.  Just cook your favorite frozen French fries until crisp (we like the ones that are slightly thicker than shoestring fries), then layer in a baking dish with cubed Cheddar cheese.  Bake until the cheese is melted, then pour piping hot beef gravy over the top, sprinkle with green onion and serve.  Soooo good! Check the recipe tips for a vegetarian-friendly option.

Ingredients

  • 28 ounces frozen French fries
  • 8 ounces white Cheddar cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) Campbell’s® Beef Gravy or Mushroom Gravy
  • 1 green onion (scallion), sliced (about 2 tablespoons)

Instructions

  • Tips

    • Best fries for this recipe? We like to use the type called "hand-cut" or "house-cut", which is thinner than steak fries but thicker than shoestring.
    • Vegetarian option: simply replace Campbell's Beef Gravy with Campbell's Mushroom Gravy.

  • Step 1

Cook the fries according to the package directions.

  • Step 2

Heat the oven to 425°F.  Layer half the cooked fries and half the cheese in a greased 13x9-inch baking dish.  Repeat the layers.

  • Step 3

Bake for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.  While it's baking, heat the gravy according to the package directions.  Pour the gravy over the fries, sprinkle with the green onion and serve hot.
