Experience the ultimate takeout mash up with this Cheesesteak Pizza recipe. A mouthwatering collision that brings together two beloved classics in one, irresistible dish. This delicious creation starts with a base of our Creamy Cheddar Sauce and gets topped with beef, sautéed onions, green bell peppers, mushrooms and even more cheese. As it bakes, the sauce bubbles and melds with a blend of cheese, creating the perfect, cheesesteak flavor on every slice. This pizza is perfect for game days, family dinner or anytime really!

Ingredients

  • 2 (12-inch) pizza crust
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 medium onion, cut in half and sliced (about 1/2 cup)
  • 2 medium green bell pepper, cut in strips (about 1/2 cup)
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian cheese blend (we like a blend that includes some provolone)
  • 1 1/2 cups Prego® Creamy Cheddar Sauce (about 1/2 of a 14.5-ounce jar) or Cheesy Bacon Cheddar Cheese Sauce

Instructions

  • Tips

    • To make a single pizza, cut all ingredients in half.
    • Add your favorite cheesesteak toppings, like banana or cherry peppers, crushed red pepper flakes, ketchup, hot sauce, etc.
  • Step 1

    Heat the oven to 450°F.  Bake the pizza crusts, directly on the oven rack, for 5 minutes.  Remove the crusts from the oven and place on a baking sheet.

  • Step 2

    Cook the beef in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until well browned, stirring often to separate meat.  Add the onion, pepper and mushrooms to the skillet and cook for 5 minutes or until the vegetables are tender-crisp.  Stir in the sauce and cook until hot.  Divide the beef mixture in half and spread on each crust.  Divide the cheese in half and sprinkle over beef mixture.

  • Step 3

    Bake for 8 minutes or until the crust is crisp and the cheese is melted.
