Oven-Fried Chimichangas are a delicious way to enjoy chimichangas without all the mess from deep-frying...and guess what? We think they taste better this way! Tortillas are stuffed with chicken, spices, picante sauce and cheese, then brushed with melted butter to crisp in the oven- so easy and so good! You can also bake these chimichangas in the air fryer, quickly and without the butter- see the tip below for how.
Step 1
Heat the oven to 400°F. While the oven is heating, stir the picante sauce, cumin, oregano, chicken, cheese and onions in a medium bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Step 2
Place about 1/2 cup chicken mixture in the center of each tortilla. Fold the opposite sides over the filling. Roll the tortillas up from the bottom and place them seam-side down on a baking sheet. Brush the tortilla rolls with butter.
Step 3
Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with additional picante sauce.
